Rich's Impreza Wagon update
So I've had a slight change of plan with the Impreza Wagon that I've been building. Quite a big change in fact. The car was coming on well, and after a bit of a mix-up with the engine components things were looking good; the car was running and ready to be mapped, but then a spanner was thrown in the works. The pistons that were sent are the wrong compression ratio - at no fault of the supplier - and with the whole purpose of the car being to be able to run 500bhp on pump fuel, they had to be changed.
Not to be disheartened, I took the engine out and while it was out had a slight change of plan. I've got a spare four-door Impreza bodyshell at home with 3200km on the clock from the factory. It's like new, and with the original plan for that to be a donor car for my third Impreza, the carbon-arched two-door beast I've been building, the four-door 'shell was effectively redundant.
To cut a long story short, the Wagon bodyshell is being scrapped. It turned out that it had been repaired badly with a new inner wing and the driver's door shut was horrific...and I'm not keen on sticking 500bhp through something that I'm not sure has all four wheels pointing in the same direction. It's served its purpose as a donor car now though, and I'm super-excited to get the mint four-door on the road and putting down some serious power. More soon.
